Nail Envy

by Kaylee Pare

It’s rare that my nails are bare; I just can’t stand not having a little shot of colour on my fingers. But I can only buy so many, and I often find myself becoming tired of the same old shades. That’s why I love these pictures, they take nail painting to a whole new level, and while I’m not sure I would spend this much time on my nails, it’s fun to see what my options are… I have to get over this no bare nails policy, or else my backpacking trip might be a little more cosmopolitain than my boyfriend is expecting. :)

Glitz Blitz

by Kaylee Pare

It’s so often that I am bored with my hefty collection of nail polishes. The hues all seem similar and after a while, only the cute (and somewhat ridiculous) names draw me to them (OPI’s Mermaid’s Tears? What does that even mean.) When my aunt sent me an email about Sally Hansen’s new Salon Effects Nail Polish (we only discuss important matters via email), I was pretty excited to try it out. Here are some images from my adventures with the gold sparkle color called Glitz Blitz. The stickers are much easier to apply than you would think, and the staying power is quite astounding. Pick it up at your local Wal-Mart and get gluing!

Mint Green to Acid Pink

by Kaylee Pare

As you can see, I have a sickness. A sickness that has haunted me, and my fingers, for years. This sickness drives me, time and time again, to purchase alarming amounts of nail polish, all in the same shade. As someone who conducts her own mani/pedis, this causes quite the dull color palette. And so, I have driven myself to spend that extra 5 minutes in the Lacquer aisle and further, to reach for those unique colors that have entered the small-bottled world of nail decor. From mint green to acid pink, my polish drawer is beginning to resemble a Katy Perry ensemble. I am proud to display the following bottles…all alarmingly different from the aforementioned, and all sure to spice things up in the polish department!

MUCH better!

From left: OPI Charged up Cherry, OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries, Revlon Minted, Revlon Totally Toffee, Revlon Perfect Pink, Essie Angora Cardi, Essie St. Lucia Lilac, Essie Ballet Slippers, Chanel Tulipe Noire, Chanel Intermezzo, Lippmann Collection Fade to Black

If you continue reaching for those similar shades and creativity is minimal…head to the magazine aisle to flip through those luscious pictures for inspiration…and put that Canary red down already!
