Moving Forward

by Kaylee Pare

Pardon me? It’s been one exact month since my last post? How ironic. That was not planned. But now that I think about it, maybe it was just what I needed to gain a little perspective. Just like most things in life, guilt is so often apart of my blogging journey. I’m constantly pondering whether that post was as good as it could have been, or berating myself for disregarding any sort of posting schedule or routine. It seems however, that I’ve forgotten the precise beauty of what my blog is, which is a quaint space of my own where not one deadline or directive will guide me, where I am free to express everything from big thoughts to small purchases. I’ve learnt that guilt will get you nowhere, and coming to terms with the fact that things won’t always materialize just as you flawlessly planned, is essential.

These past few weeks have been nothing short of mayhem. Between living in a new city, starting a new job in an ultra-fast-paced industry, moving from one apartment to the next, and attempting to maintain contact with loved ones, I have had little to no time to reflect on it all. I’m so thrilled to finally be settled into a place of my own, where I have plenty of thinking space and much more time to devote to this darling space of mine. A fresh turn of the calendar, with so much potential.

Casual Mondays

by Kaylee Pare

While of course, casual monday is where I poke fun at images that undoubtedly make us all think “really? is this happening?”, I have to say that I do love this image of Arizona Muse from August 2011 Vogue UK. The styling is gorgeous and I’m happy the dog isn’t a puffy poodle or a posh Yorkie. Midi lengths like this one have caught my eye lately, and I find them so ladylike and classy. Maybe this will inspire you to throw on a skirt next time you’re taking a stroll around the block, sans ou avec pup. Have a splendid week!

Peak Athina

by Kaylee Pare

I took these images today in Athens from the Acropolis, I loved the view these holes in the limestone offered, a little peak at a very large and crowded city. While the historical signifance of Athens is very interesting to its visitors, a large city like this one is not what one imagines when they think of quaint Europa. For this reason, we are cutting this portion of the trip short and making our way to the island of Crete tomorrow. We have had a splendid time roaming the streets, seeing the sights, searching for crowded bars and the best greek salad, but we are looking forward to smaller towns and easy access to the sea. We are thinking of renting vespas for a few days in order to see more of the vast island and get a chance to practice our motoring skills!

Casual Mondays

by Kaylee Pare

This week’s casual monday is brought to you by dark couture gowns, overbearing silhouettes, regal hair accessories and outrageously immense gates. I expect someone very important lives within these walls, the question is, who cuts those hedges in the background? Ouch.

Casual Mondays

by Kaylee Pare

I always wear 5-inch wedges to the beach…don’t you? Those sunglasses are killing me, I think I have a sunglass fetish. Anyway lovelies, have a great week and don’t forget to wear out your summer pieces before it’s too late! Linen, cutoff denim, jersey dresses, sandals, and all that good stuff. xo

Day Dreaming

by Kaylee Pare

Anticipation can really get a hold of you. The endless countdowns, the list-making, and continuous chatter preempting more thoughts about an anticipated event. We are in that period now, awaiting our EuroTrip. Every workday includes several texts back and forth “can we leave tomorrow instead?” or “are we there yet?”. The trip is supposed to be completely spontaneous; we don’t want to plan our route to a T – but as the anticipation builds, it becomes more and more difficult not to think about every detail! Where will we stay? For how long? Will we reach every spot before time runs out? I’ve got to stop asking all of these questions, and focus on the now. But, just to get some of my travel longings out, here are some images floating around in my head while I day dream.

Non Stop Stylish

by Kaylee Pare

Like most girls, I am obsessed with Sarah Jessica Parker. Not just because she starred in one of the best shows of the century, but because she is intelligent, beautiful, kind, talented and oh-so stylish. Naturally, when she had twins with her husband Matthew Broderick through a surrogate a few years back (joining their son, James Wilkie), I was instantly mesmerised by her mommy-on-the-go style. I was so excited when I saw the following editorial; with all of the family starring in it, and SJP (not surprisingly) wearing the latest from the runways (including Oscar de la Renta, Proenza Schouler, Bottega Veneta, Chanel and more).  The editorial was photographed by Mario Testino for Vogue’s August 2011 issue.
Of course, the pictures are a bit far-fetched, I don’t think any of our mothers wore couture while child-rearing, but if nothing else, editorials allow us to enter into a world of fantasy. At least we know the family and the fun in these images are real!

Zara at Couture

by Kaylee Pare

Yesterday Olivia Palermo stepped out for the Stephane Rolland Couture show in a Zara dress that I tried on just a few weeks ago. I couldn’t resisting posting it with the photo I took in the fitting room! I love that she chose to accent the graphic floral dress with purple shoes and a bag. It was very hard to resist the dress but I opted for a few other purchases rather than this one, isn’t it beautiful though? The tulip skirt accent is beyond.
